The group started in 1988 and are based out of Cypress Park, CA. Within one year, the group signed to Columbia Records and their claim to fame skyrocketed after the release of their second album, Black Sunday. The album was released in 1993 and made it to #1 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart. Rolling leaves and smoking trees was part of Cypress Hill’s persona and they made it known. The group would often incorporate smoking while performing and never failed to mention their love for cannabis in their lyrics. Cypress Hill’s Black Sunday album birthed one of the most iconic sesh songs, “I Wanna Get High”.
